TEACHERIvan Giuliano & Miguel Gallego
Ivan Giuliano (Italy) and Miguel Gallego (Colombia) are an emerging tango couple in Europe. They met in Marseille in 2023 and both tango passions drove themselves to combine their skills to create something bigger and unique. Looking for freedom in gender ́s dance structures is a point of coincidence between them as well as the vindication of men`s embrace in contrast with a world conception to associate masculinity with violence.
One of them is energetic and aesthete, the other is deep and passionate. Both have been educated by tango masters from Argentina and Italy in ‘tango pista’ and tango stage styles. During 2024, will perform in Queer Tango Festivals as Tango Queer L’isula from Catania and the Barcelona Queer Tango Festival from Barcelona.
Ezgi Turmus & Derya Kiliç
Ezgi Turmus (Turkey) and Derya Kılıç (Turkey) have been teaching and dancing tango together since 2015.
Ezgi began dancing tango at the Istanbul University Dance Club in 2004. She worked with many different tango teachers. She was interested in both roles of tango, and performed at several events. After graduating, she returned to Samsun (Turkey) and in 2009 founded her own community called TangoSam, where she met Derya. In 2017, she was finalist in the Istanbul Dance World Championship.
Derya started having tango lessons with Ezgi in 2010, and years later they began to develop a dance project together, being invited to perform at various shows in Turkey. Since last year they continued their project of dance together and since then have participated in several events in Turkey and Germany. Derya's curiosity about tango arises from its ability to express her artistic qualities, and Ezgi is her great partner to go forward with this fantastic project together.
Vincent Hodin
Vincent Hodin (France) discovered tango in 2013 during a trip to Argentina. After his first class and his first milonga, he knew that something had changed in his life. Thanks to this curiosity for tango, he began taking classes at "DINZEL" studio.
He travelled to Córdoba, Argentina, to learn from many teachers and he quickly became attracted to the change of roles. Once in Paris, he continued his formation.
Since 2016, he has been teaching tango in associations and collectives of traditional and queer tango in different parts of France and Europe. He loves teaching this dance and takes pride in transmitting connection and technique. He is part of the organization of the international Tango Queer festival in Paris, "La Vie en Rose," which takes place every year and brings together more than 300 people.
Hernan Furci
Hernán Furci (Argentina), originally from Buenos Aires, started to dance tanto when he was 12. During his adolescence was fully dedicated to latin rhythms, but in his twenties came back to his roots: the tango.
Since 2013 he has been very active in the European Queer Tango scene. Based in Geneva, he co-founded the non-profit “Tango Queer et OpenRole Genève”, where he has been teaching since 2017. He’s also “Geneva Queer Tango Meeting” co-organizer.
His tango is described as particularly vigorous and dynamic, and his classes are influenced by his profession as physicist: you are invited to analyse and create the tango movements with detail, rigour and precision. His TDJ sets oscillate between golden age tunes and more innovative orchestras.
Ariadna Zaehnsdorf & Keila Luciano
Keila Luciano (Argentina) and Ariadna Zaehnsdorf (Argentina) were born in the Buenos Aires periphery. They started to dance tango from their childhoods, impulsed by their own relatives that created this passion.
In 2019 both emigrated to Barcelona, the city where they met and started to dance together. By then, both were dancing both roles and were invited to do some performances. In 2020 founded La Despeinada Tango, where they teach regular tango lessons and have a milonga which hosts many international artists.
Their first European tours were in 2022, working in many queer tango places, till nowadays. In 2023, they came back together to Buenos Aires where they worked in milongas oriented to young people. This year will be the first edition of La Despeinada Tango Marathon in Barcelona´s summer. They are the youngest tango workers in the city and their events and performances are characterised by its own freshness and fun.
Monica Alemán & Mariano Garcés
Mariano Garcés Grizy (Argentina) and Mónica Alemán Bosa (Spain) met in Barcelona in 2021 and began working together at the Argenfolk Tango and Argentine Folklore school, and at La Morocha milonga, both in Barcelona. They have degrees in Tango from the University of Arts and a magister in Dance Movement Therapy.
Mónica comes from the traditional scene and has made her formation at University and with great tango teachers in Buenos Aires. Mariano was one of the pioneers of Queer Tango and Folklore queer in Argentina. Since 2002, he has been organizing international queer tango Festivals and marathons in Argentina, Germany and recently in Spain, the Barcelona Queer Tango Festival.
They generate a synergy in which Mónica has brought traditional tango to Mariano, and Mariano has brought the Queer perspective to Mònica. During their lessons and performances the gender and queer perspective is always present.
